YSRC president and former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the party’s regional coordinators to expedite preparations for the ensuing local body polls by identifying candidates and working in coordination.

Jagan Mohan Reddy held a meeting with the regional coordinators at Tadepalli on Thursday and reviewed the party’s preparedness for the polls. He asked the coordinators to consult leaders at all levels, gather their views and hold multiple rounds of discussions before finalising candidates.

He asked the party organisation to work on a common platform and stressed the need to continuously monitor local leadership, strengthen it and encourage coordination with party cadres.

Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the coordinators to ensure that party leaders explain the differences between the previous YSRC government and the present dispensation and highlight what he described as the difficulties and losses faced by people during the two-and-a-half years of the alliance government.

He asked party leaders to visit every household and explain the welfare and governance initiatives implemented during the previous YSRC government.

Jagan Mohan Reddy also cautioned the party leaders to prepare for challenges during the local body polls. He alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would try to use police power and other means to influence the electoral process and asked the party to prepare alternatives and contingency plans at every level.
