KAKINADA: National Quantum Mission (NQM) director J.B.V. Reddy said that the NQU is creating a strong framework to position the country as a global leader in quantum technologies by supporting research, innovation and infrastructure development.
Participating as a chief guest in an interactive session to create awareness on activities and available opportunities in NQM and science and technology at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) on Friday, Reddy outlined the mission’s roadmap in the areas of quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum sensing and quantum materials and also explained the research opportunities available under the mission and also funding support offered by the department of science and technology for research projects, laboratory development and collaborative initiatives.
He also elaborated on the preparation of research proposals and encouraged higher educational institutions to actively participate in the national quantum ecosystem. NQM Andhra Pradesh director C.V. Sridhar said that the government is making efforts to develop vibrant quantum technology ecosystems, start-ups and industry. He called upon the faculty members to participate in state-level initiatives and submit research proposals.
Presiding over the programme, JNTUK vice-chancellor, C.S.R.K. Prasad said that quantum technologies would redefine the future of science, technology and engineering. He urged the faculty members to pursue internationally competitive research, establish quantum laboratories and make effective use of DST funding under the NQM.
