Firecracker Sparks Blaze At Temple Pandal
A misfired firecracker triggered a blaze at a temple pandal in Nellore during a procession, but a prompt response by police and fire services averted casualties.
A major fire accident was averted near Sri Talpagiri Ranganatha Swamy temple in Nellore on Sunday after a misfired firecracker landed on a pandal at the nearby Sri Vedanta Desikan temple, triggering a blaze.
The incident occurred around 9.30 am when nearly 2,000 devotees were taking part in a procession from the Ranganatha Swamy temple to Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari temple.
Nellore town ASP Deeksha rushed to the spot on the directions of district SP Dr Ajitha Vejendla and coordinated with fire services personnel to bring the flames under control.
The prompt response prevented any loss of life or property despite the large gathering.
Police appealed to organisers and devotees to exercise caution while bursting firecrackers during temple festivals, processions and public gatherings.
