Crowds Gather as Atal-Modi Good Governance Yatra Reaches Nellore
Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy highlighted Vajpayee’s commitment to education through Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and stressed the importance of value-based politics.
Nellore: The Atal-Modi Suparipalana (Good Governance) Yatra arrived in Nellore to a rousing welcome on Sunday, with BJP cadres and supporters lining the streets to greet the procession.
The event, organised as part of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth centenary celebrations, turned into a major political and cultural gathering, where BJP leaders highlighted the decades of governance, values and development.
They inaugurated a photo exhibition showcasing key development milestones achieved under the leaderships of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both at the national level and in Andhra Pradesh.
BJP AP president P.V.N. Madhav unveiled a bronze statue of Vajpayee in the presence of minister Satyakumar Yadav, TD MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, MP Vemireddy Prashanth Reddy, Nellore district BJP president Vamsidhar Reddy and other alliance leaders.
Addressing a public meeting on the occasion, BJP state president Madhav said Vajpayee’s 70-year political journey remains a record rooted in values rather than power.
“Vajpayee proved that principles matter more than positions. From nuclear tests to the Kargil war, he established India’s strength, and today Prime Minister Modi has fulfilled many of his dreams, including the abrogation of Article 370,” Madhav underlined.
Minister Satyakumar Yadav recalled his personal interactions with Vajpayee, describing the former PM as a poet-statesman who voiced people’s pain through words and action. He traced India’s infrastructure growth, from national highways, telecom, IT connectivity, metro rail projects, and medical institutions to seeds sown during Vajpayee’s tenure and said these have now expanded manifold under Modi.
“If we are witnessing a terror-free India today, it is because of PM Narendra Modi’s decisive leadership,” he said, citing surgical strikes and national security reforms.
Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy highlighted Vajpayee’s commitment to education through Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and stressed the importance of value-based politics.
Those who spoke on the occasion included MLA Chandramohan Reddy, MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and Udyagiri MLA Kakarla Suresh.
