Kurnool: District collector Dr A. Siri on Monday warned officials against delays in the payment of wages to outsourcing and contract employees, stating that they would be held accountable if such complaints continued to reach the public grievance forum.

During the grievance redressal programme, several outsourcing and contract employees complained that their salaries had not been paid for six to seven months. Expressing displeasure over the issue, the collector questioned officials on why the matter had not been brought to her notice earlier despite their awareness of the delays.

She cautioned that show-cause notices would be issued to the officials concerned if similar complaints were raised in future. The collector said timely communication from departments would enable her to take up such issues with higher authorities and facilitate their resolution.

The weekly grievance programme witnessed a large turnout, with hundreds of people visiting the collectorate to submit petitions on various issues. Officials said a majority of the complaints were related to land disputes.

Similar grievance programmes in neighbouring Nandyal and Kadapa districts also witnessed heavy participation, with more than 2,000 people reportedly submitting petitions on a range of issues. Many petitioners said they had been repeatedly approaching authorities over unresolved land-related matters.
