NELLORE: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reiterated his government’s commitment to eradicate poverty by 2029, stressing that both welfare and development are being pursued in parallel. The CM’s assertion came on Saturday evening when Bhagat Singh Colony in Nellore’s 54th division wore a festive look ahead of land title deeds being formally handed over to the residents, who had been waiting for them for nearly 40 years. Chandrababu Naidu joined the event virtually from Amaravati, while Urban Development minister Dr. Ponguru Narayana, MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, State Waqf Board chairman Abdul Aziz, district collector O. Anand and joint collector Karthik attended in person. Minister Narayana and MP Vemireddy personally handed over deeds to two women in the CM’s presence, while volunteers distributed the remaining deeds to hundreds of others. The Chief Minister praised Narayana for bringing the long-pending land title issue to his attention. “For decades, poor families here lived in uncertainty without land titles. After Minister Narayana explained the hardships they faced, the cabinet swiftly approved the distribution of title deeds,” Chandrababu Naidu said. He pointed out that his government is implementing the Super Six promises, providing ₹4,000 pension to the elderly, ₹6,000 to the differently-abled, ₹10,000 to kidney patients, and ₹15,000 to bedridden individuals — benefiting 64 lakh people with an annual outlay of ₹33,000 crore. The CM mentioned schemes like Thalliki Vandanam for mothers, Annadata Sukhibhava for farmers, free cooking gas under Deepam for housewives, revival of Anna canteens, and free bus travel for women starting from August 15. Chandrababu Naidu announced the launch of P4 programme on August 19 to support nearly 15 lakh “golden families,” aiming to bridge the economic inequality and stand firmly with the poor.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Narayana thanked the CM on behalf of Bhagat Singh Colony’s residents for fulfilling their decades-old dream for title deeds. Narayana recalled how previous title deeds issued before the 2024 elections had been rejected by banks as invalid and how, this time, under the CM’s orders, valid titles have been issued to resolve all legal hurdles. Before the deed distribution, Chandrababu Naidu interacted virtually with two women beneficiaries — Shabiha and Mastanamma — who thanked the Chief Minister and the minister for giving them the rights over their homes. “We once feared we would lose our houses. But you kept your word and gave us titles,” they said emotionally.
Those present at the event included RDO Anusha, tahsildar Shafi Malik, local representatives, municipal and revenue officials, and hundreds of Bhagat Singh Colony residents.
