Chandrababu to Launch AP’s Pilot Blockchain-Based Land Records System Today
Each transaction will be securely recorded with a permanent and traceable digital history
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will on Thursday launch the Andhra Pradesh government's “Mee Bhoomi–Blockchain” pilot project, an initiative aimed at modernising the state's land records management system through blockchain technology.
The project, to be launched virtually from the State Secretariat at Velagapudi in Amaravati, seeks to establish a single, tamper-proof source of true land records, reduce land fraud, and provide faster and more transparent citizen services.
Collectors of Kurnool, Chittoor, Bapatla, Krishna, East Godavari, Parvathipuram Manyam, and Vizianagaram districts will participate online in the launch.
While land records are currently digitised through Webland, discrepancies have persisted because Revenue, Survey and Registration departments maintain data separately. The new platform integrates records from all three departments into a unified digital system.
The Mee Bhoomi–Blockchain pilot project has been developed jointly by NIC Andhra Pradesh and NIC Bengaluru Centre of Excellence in Blockchain Technology. Using the Hyperledger Fabric, the system assigns a unique blockchain identity to every land parcel. Each transaction will be securely recorded with a permanent and traceable digital history.
According to officials, any modification to land records can be made only through authorised online government services. Details of every transaction, including the official handling it and the time of execution, will be permanently recorded. The system will automatically halt transactions if discrepancies are detected.
In the initial phase, the platform will provide eight citizen services, including auto mutation, subdivision, and extent correction. Government departments, such as Agriculture, Fisheries, Mines, Industries, Energy, and APCRDA, as well as financial institutions, will be able to access authenticated land records as required.
The pilot project will be implemented in Aspari, Penumuru, Repalle, Gannavaram, Kadiam, Gummalakshmipuram, and Kothavalasa mandals across seven districts. It will cover 89 re-surveyed villages and 1,37,763 land parcel maps in the first phase.
