VIJAYAWADA: Former MP G.V. Harsha Kumar has urged the Governor of Andhra Pradesh to order a CBI probe into the suspicious death of Pastor Praveen Pagadala, alleging serious lapses and inaction by the state police. He submitted a representation citing over 400 days of delay and accused police of failing to file counter-affidavits or conclude the investigation with scientific evidence.

Earlier, Dr K.A. Paul had approached the High Court seeking CBI investigation but withdrew after the court directed a `5 lakh deposit. Harsha Kumar pursued the case, later mobilising public support to convert it into a PIL, appealing for `10 contributions, with over 8,000 donors responding. The required `5 lakh was deposited before the court with full transparency, including donor details and bank statements.

However, no progress has been made, with East Godavari SP and Eluru DIG yet to file counter-affidavits, indicating administrative indifference. He said the delay violates Article 21 of the Constitution guaranteeing a fair and speedy investigation.

Harsha Kumar urged the Governor to seek a status report from police, ensure compliance in court, and recommend a CBI inquiry for an impartial probe. Harsha Kumar said the fight will continue until truth and justice are delivered in the case.
