KADAPA: Andhra Pradesh government is committed to transforming Kadapa district into a major hub for renewable energy and industrial development, district in-charge minister S. Savitha said on Thursday.

Addressing a public meeting organised at the Putha Estate in Kadapa city to mark two years of NDA coalition governance, the minister said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is prioritising economic growth and industrial expansion of AP towards employment generation.

She noted that in line with the global bent towards renewable energy, large-scale solar and pumped storage projects are being implemented across Kadapa district. Nearly 4,500 MW of solar power projects are in various stages of development, of which over 1,100 MW have already been integrated into the grid.

“Industrial projects in Kadapa district are expected to bring investments worth over ₹1.07 lakh crore and generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities,” Savitha underlined.

She emphasised that the government is focusing on skill development programmes tailored to industry needs, enabling local youth to secure jobs within the district instead of migrating elsewhere.

Highlighting the district’s progress in education, the minister said infrastructure in government schools has been upgraded under the Nadu-Nedu initiative, including improvements in classrooms, sanitation, and drinking water facilities.

She maintained that infrastructure development remains a key focus of the state government, with road works spanning over 500 km proposed at a cost exceeding ₹18,000 crore. Once completed, connectivity between Kadapa and major cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai will improve significantly.

Savitha called upon youth to actively contribute to nation-building, stating that both the state and central governments are working in coordination to ensure inclusive development.
