Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has rolled out extensive arrangements for the Sankranti festival, announcing the operation of 1,500 additional bus services from Visakhapatnam to ensure smooth travel during the festive season.
APSRTC Regional Manager B. Appala Naidu stated that every year, special services are operated to meet the increased demand, and this year is no exception. Plans are underway to operate 1,500 additional bus services from Visakhapatnam to major destinations, including Vijayawada, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and East Godavari districts.
He emphasized that these services are being arranged to prevent inconvenience to passengers traveling home for Sankranthi celebrations. A review meeting was conducted with depot managers in Visakhapatnam city, where instructions were given to operate buses according to real-time demand. In addition, Appala Naidu highlighted that women passengers can avail free travel in designated buses under the Stree Shakti scheme, further easing festive travel for families.
Earlier, the APSRTC announced the operation of 8,432 special buses in addition to its regular services to meet the seasonal surge in passenger demand for the pre-festival phase. The corporation has made it clear that only normal fares will be charged, with no extra or festival premium on any route.
