APSPDCL To Crack Down On Power Woes
Take corrective measures to ensure quality power supply: CMD
TIRUPATI: With rising concerns over transformer failures and line losses affecting service quality, Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) chairman and managing director K. Santosh Rao has directed officials to take immediate corrective measures to ensure reliable power supply across the region.
During a meeting held at the corporate office in Tirupati on Friday, the CMD stressed the need to bring down transformer failure rates by replacing faulty units without delay. He warned that officials would be held accountable if such issues persist in specific areas. Regular maintenance of substations and lines was also highlighted as critical to preventing breakdowns and ensuring service continuity.
Calling uninterrupted electricity supply the organisation’s core objective, he instructed all field-level staff to remain at their headquarters and respond swiftly to consumer needs. The CMD also pointed out that feeder trippings between April and June were highest in Anantapur and lowest in Kurnool and urged constant monitoring to minimise such incidents.
He stressed the importance of promoting the PM Surya Ghar scheme, urging officials to raise awareness among consumers about the benefits of solar power adoption. He further instructed the department to fast-track power service approvals and address damaged poles and loose lines in farmlands.
Pending work orders must be closed at the earliest, he said, warning of strict action against delays. Collection of long-pending electricity dues was also flagged as essential for the corporation’s financial stability. He urged consumers to report issues through the toll-free numbers 1912 or 1800 425 155333, or via WhatsApp on 91333 31912.
