Vijayawada:Law secretary G. Pratibha Devi said on Thursday that the Andhra Pradesh government was ready to enact the Advocates’ Protection Act.

Members of the Bezawada Bar Association have been observing a relay hunger strike for the past nine days, demanding enactment of the legislation to protect advocates.

As part of the protest, a group of advocates led by BBA president V. Lakshminarayana took out a bike rally from their office to the Secretariat and met the law secretary, submitting a representation.

Pratibha Devi said the state government was making efforts to bring the legislation soon.

BBA president V. Lakshminarayana said advocates across the state were staging a protest demanding enactment of the Advocates’ Protection Act.
