Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh State Waqf Board has achieved a significant milestone by completing the large-scale digitisation and registration of Waqf properties on the central government’s UMEED portal, board chairman Sheikh Abdul Aziz announced on Sunday.

He said though the additional six-month deadline granted for registration of existing Waqf properties on the UMEED Central Portal concluded on June 6, the portal will continue to remain open for the registration of new Waqf properties.

Abdul Aziz stated that the exercise began with registration of 4,711 Waqf institutions across the state as per the guidelines issued by the Government of India. Despite facing several challenges, including technical glitches, server interruptions, inadequate historical records, and the collection of details relating to inter-state properties, the AP Waqf Board has completed the process through a special action plan, continuous monitoring, and coordinated efforts.

The board chairman said details of all properties identified in the first Waqf survey have been uploaded to the portal, achieving 100 per cent registration. Similarly, all properties identified during the second survey and communicated by the government have also been fully uploaded to the UMEED portal. With this, a total of 8,681 Waqf institutions and 82,567.06 acres of Waqf land have now been registered and digitised on the portal.

Abdul Aziz stated that the creation of a comprehensive digital database of Waqf assets is expected to strengthen property protection, prevent encroachments, improve revenue generation, and promote transparent administration.

The board chairman congratulated officials, staff members, district inspector auditors, mutawallis, management committees, and all others who contributed to the successful completion of the waqf property registrations.
