Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu and home minister Vangalapudi Anitha jointly inaugurated the release of water from the Tandava Reservoir Project in Anakapalle district. The event included a ceremonial Jalaharati, marking the formal commencement of irrigation supplies.

Addressing the media, the home minister expressed her gratitude for being part of the occasion. “Many farmers depend on the Tandava ayacut. It is my good fortune to participate in this water release programme,” she stated.

Anitha sharply criticised the previous YSRC government, alleging that the Tandava reservoir had been neglected during its tenure. “Even the gates were left unrepaired,” she claimed, adding that the failure to strengthen the Budameru gates had resulted in flooding in the Vijayawada region.

She noted that, under the leadership of the Assembly Speaker and the newly formed NDA government, the Tandava reservoir gates were repaired and brought back into operation. The Minister emphasised that the Tandava reservoir now irrigates nearly 50,000 acres of farmland, benefiting farmers in the Tuni, Payakaraopeta, and Narsipatnam constituencies.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to agriculture, Anitha stated that the NDA coalition prioritises farmers’ welfare and is working to ensure they receive fair and remunerative prices for their produce.
