With formation of a low-pressure area over Bay of Bengal off the south Odisha-north Andhra coast, AP government has forecast rains in several parts of the state during the next three days.

Home and Disaster Management minister Vangalapudi Anitha has directed officials to set up control rooms immediately and ensure that there is no loss of life or property. She asked officials to closely monitor the situation and issue regular updates on the movement and impact of the low-pressure system.

According to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), while north Andhra is likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall, south coastal Andhra will receive moderate rains during the next three days.

Strong winds are likely along the coast, with gusts likely to reach speeds of 50 kmph to 70 kmph. The minister has urged fishermen not to venture into the sea in view of the adverse weather conditions. She appealed to people to remain alert and follow advisories issued by the authorities.

SDMA asked people facing any emergency to contact its control rooms on toll-free numbers 112, 1070, and 1800 425 0101 for assistance.
