Visakhapatnam: As many as 25,060 claims, objections and applications have been received in Visakhapatnam district as part of the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, district in-charge collector G Vidhyadhari said.

She said the applications were received from the publication of the draft electoral rolls on July 31 until the September 10 deadline, as per the directions of the Election Commission.

Of the total applications, 12,334 were submitted through Form-6 seeking inclusion of names as new voters. Another 3,489 applications were filed through Form-7 seeking deletion of names from the electoral rolls. As many as 9,237 applications were received through Form-8 seeking corrections in voter details and changes of address.

The collector said all applications received by the September 10 deadline would be scrutinised and verified as per the prescribed rules. The details of eligible applicants would subsequently be incorporated into the electoral rolls. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 9, she said.
