Andhra Yellow Team Win Blind Cricket Trophy
Andhra Yellow won the Amaravati Challengers Trophy 2026-27 blind cricket selection tournament held at Namburu.
The Andhra Yellow team emerged champions in the state-level Amaravati Challengers Trophy 2026-27 blind cricket selection tournament held at the MSK Prasad Cricket Ground at Namburu on Tuesday. Andhra Red and Andhra Blue finished runners-up. AP EAGLE chief and IG Aake Ravikrishna presented trophies and prizes to the teams.
Addressing the players, Ravikrishna said visual impairment should not be a barrier to success and urged sportspersons to pursue their goals with determination and reach international levels. Quoting former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s “Dream, Dream, Dream” message, he called upon the players to bring laurels to the country at Asian and international competitions.
Recalling his association with visually impaired persons during his postings in Guntur and Kurnool, Ravikrishna said that as Kurnool SP he had launched an eye-donation awareness campaign and secured consent from around 1.5 lakh people with support from the Red Cross and government eye banks.
He also urged society to join the fight against drugs, noting that the government had launched EAGLE and toll-free helpline 1972. He appealed to people to report information on ganja and other narcotics through 1972 or EAGLE Anonymous Tips.
Arjuna awardee I. Ajay Kumar Reddy said cricket had helped them overcome challenges and thanked Ravikrishna for supporting players.
