31-year-old Gets 20-year Jail for Raping Minor

Nellore:Ongole Pocso Court Judge K. Sailaja on Wednesday sentenced a man, Gurunaatham Daniel, 31, of Nelaturu village in Kanigiri mandal, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 6,000 for raping a 13-year-old minor girl. The court also ordered `2 lakh compensation to the victim through Ongole DLSA.

According to police, Daniel, a relative of the victim’s family, lured the girl in October 2023 with a promise of marriage and took her to a remote village, where he sexually assaulted her multiple times. The case was registered by H.M. Padu SI P. Siva Nagaraju and investigated by then Kanigiri DSP R. Ramaraju.

District SP V. Harshavardhan Raju, appreciated the police team and Spl. PP Gottipati Srinivasa Rao for securing the conviction.
