Woman Held With Stolen Gold Worth ₹16 Lakh
Police said the accused had been involved in several theft cases earlier and would be produced before a local court.
Nellore:Darsi police in Prakasam district arrested a woman and recovered 128 grams of stolen gold jewellery worth about ₹16 lakh, solving a theft case registered last year.
According to Darsi DSP P. Balamuralikrishna, Chennamshetty Sumalatha of Darsi lost a handbag containing gold ornaments while travelling by bus from Tripurantakam to Darsi on October 3, 2025. She later lodged a complaint with Darsi Town police.
Acting on credible information, police detained Satupati Kumari of Sai Nagar, Darsi, near Sanskriti School on Addanki Road. During interrogation, she allegedly confessed to the theft, leading to the recovery of necklaces, chains, earrings, bangles and other ornaments weighing 128 grams.
