18 Held For Vandalism During IPL Victory Celebrations

The police arrested 18 persons in connection with incidents of vandalism reported during the victory celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) following the IPL final match in Kurnool city.
According to the police, miscreants damaged public, government and private properties, including breaking the window panes of buses in the Raj Vihar Centre area while celebrating the team’s victory. A case was registered at the 2-Town police station. The police launched an investigation.
The police examined CCTV footage, social media videos and other technical evidence to identify the culprits. Some 18 individuals were identified and detained. They were later produced before the court.
Police warned that vandalism would not be tolerated. Citizens are urged to celebrate victories, festivals etc in a peaceful manner.
Mother, daughter found dead in Eluru cashew grove
A mother and daughter were found dead under suspicious circumstances in a cashew grove near Nallamadu village in Unguturu mandal of Eluru district, police said on Monday.
The deceased were Vadde Venkata Lakshmi and her daughter Varalakshmi. The Unguturu police have registered a case.
According to police, Varalakshmi was working as an office assistant in the Eluru municipal corporation. Being differently abled, she depended on her mother, Venkata Lakshmi, for assistance in her daily activities.
Family members said the two had travelled to their native village on Friday to attend a private function. Concern grew after they failed to return home or contact the relatives.
The bodies were later discovered in a cashew grove near Nallamadu village. The bodies were found in a partially decomposed state. Police suspect the deaths occurred days ago.
The police are probing whether the victims were killed elsewhere and their bodies dumped in the grove, or whether the crime was committed at the same spot. The bodies were shifted to a government hospital for post-mortem.
Cricket betting racket busted in Kadapa; 10 held
Kadapa Taluk police busted a major online cricket betting racket operating in the city and arrested 10 persons involved in the illegal activity during a raid conducted at Shastri Nagar in Akkayapalli.
Acting on the directions of district superintendent of police Shelké Nachiketh Vishwanath, a police team led by Taluk inspector K. Narasimha Raju raided a house and uncovered an organised betting network allegedly linked to the IPL final.
Police identified Indireddy Janardhan Reddy as the prime accused and alleged kingpin of the racket. According to investigators, he was operating online cricket betting using laptops, mobile phones and a Wi-Fi router from his residence. He allegedly distributed betting IDs and online links to sub-bookies, who collected money from customers and placed bets through digital platforms.
During the raid, police seized electronic devices, cash and 12 liquor bottles allegedly stocked without permission to entertain customers visiting the premises.
The arrested persons include individuals from Kadapa, Pulivendula, Chennur and Guntur districts. Police said the network was operating through a chain of associates who facilitated betting transactions and coordinated with punters.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway. Police suspect the involvement of more persons in the racket and are examining digital evidence to trace others connected to the illegal betting operation. Authorities reiterated that strict action would be taken against those involved in online gambling and cricket betting activities.
Inter-state burglars held with ₹80-lakh booty
Srikakulam district police arrested two interstate burglars involved in a series of property offences and recovered stolen valuables worth about ₹80 lakh.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Mizan (36) and Mohammad Hassan (26) from Malda district in West Bengal, were allegedly involved in several burglary cases in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts.
SP K.V. Maheswara Reddy said Kasibugga police cracked the cases and seized 120 grams of gold ornaments, 20 kg of silver articles, ₹1 lakh in cash and a motorcycle from the duo.
Police said both accused had a history of involvement in property offences. Further investigation is underway to determine their role in other cases and recover any remaining stolen property.
Prakasam police arrest two in motorcycle theft case, recover eight vehicles
Prakasam district police have arrested two persons and apprehended a juvenile in connection with a motorcycle theft case, recovering eight stolen motorcycles valued at around `5 lakh.
The case originated from the theft of a motorcycle from the Santanutalapadu bus stand in January this year. A case was subsequently registered at Santanutalapadu police station.
According to police, the accused were identified as Shaik Mastan alias Mastan Vali, 27, of Martur and Shaik Baji, 27, of Gummalampadu village. Police alleged that the duo, along with a juvenile, targeted motorcycles parked in isolated locations and later sold the stolen vehicles.
Investigators said the accused were traced with the assistance of the state government's CCTV360 surveillance system and inputs from the Prakasam district IT core team.
Acting on the information, Santanutalapadu police intercepted the prime accused on May 31 and recovered eight stolen motorcycles during the course of the investigation.
Prakasam superintendent of police V. Harshavardhan Raju commended the police personnel involved in solving the case.
The investigation was conducted under the supervision of Ongole DSP R. Srinivasa Rao, rural circle inspector M. Seshagiri Rao and Santanutalapadu sub-inspector V. Ajay Babu, with support from the district IT core team and local police staff.
