New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested four people, including a CGST inspector, in connection with an alleged impersonation and cheating network operating across Delhi, Bihar, Haryana and West Bengal.
The agency’s Special Task Branch in Mumbai carried out coordinated raids across the four states following the registration of an FIR on a complaint by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, officials said on Thursday.
The accused allegedly “fraudulently infiltrated multiple stages of the selection process”, including written examinations and interviews, by physically posing as candidates, the CBI said in a statement.
The agency said the alleged impersonation undermined the integrity of public examinations and deprived “genuine, hardworking aspirants of their rightful opportunities”.
The investigation is continuing to identify other people involved and establish their roles in the alleged racket, the CBI said.
