Raipur: Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday slammed Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for targeting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and accused him of finding the Election Commission a scapegoat for the series of election setbacks suffered by his party, Congress.

Talking to reporters here, Mr. Sai said that the Congress leader targets either the poll body or the BJP for his party’s poor shows in the elections.

Mr. Gandhi always finds fault with either the Election Commission or the BJP whenever his party faces debacles in elections but keeps quiet when the Opposition parties including Congress win polls, he said.

It is most unfortunate that a constitutional body like the Election Commission is tainted by Mr. Gandhi, he said.

But people understand his ‘gimmicks’ to cover up his leadership failure, Mr. Sai said.

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav also took a swipe at Mr. Gandhi for picking up Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) as his target, saying that the Congress leader should introspect about it.

Mr. Gandhi finds scapegoat in the poll body for repeated debacles faced by the Congress in the elections, Mr. Yadav said.
