Galaxy S7 post-mortem: faster Exynos chip, better internal hardware

Samsung has used a heat-conducting copper tube for the first time on the S7 to support the powerful Exynos chip.

Mumbai: Samsung recently unveiled it’s latest flagship smartphone Galaxy S7 on February 21 at a Pre-launch event, just before the initiation of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016.

While the salient specifications of the device has been discussed after the after the launch, there are certain hidden aspects of the device which you should also know if you are keen on purchasing the S7.

Alexander Levchenko, a German tech enthusiast has taken the trouble to conduct a post-mortem on the device and posted it on his website. He has shared a number of interesting points about the new smartphone.

After opening up the rear side of the device, he discovered that the there are very little chances of damaging the screen. He showed that the back cover is well fitted to the outer metal frame of the device along with protective rubber padding to protect the handset from moisture and heat.

According to him, the home button on the Galaxy S7 is the sturdiest ever on a Samsung device. As physical buttons are spoiled easily on most modern devices, the company has taken more care to make the device durable.

This is the first time that the company has utilised a heat-conducting copper tube for cooling the device. He said that the new Exynos chip 8890, which will be shipped with all the devices outside the US, is not only powerful, but also has heating issues.

Moreover, Levchenko also said that users will not face problems in getting the device repaired from a third-party service center due to the smartphone’s sturdy build. He pointed out that the S7 has been designed better in comparison to the Galaxy S6.
