Airtel plans to counter Reliance Jio; offers 28GB data for Rs 345
Indian telecom giant Bharti Airtel has planned to go up against Jio by offering dirt cheap mobile data plans. The company will offer 1GB of 4G data per day to its subscribers, bundled with unlimited outgoing calls.
Airtel’s announcement comes soon after Reliance Jio announced its most economical mobile data plan alongside the Jio Prime services. Airtel will charge Rs 345 for 1GB of 4G data per day along with local and STD voice calls free per month.
However, Airtel subscribers will get 500MB in the day time while 500MB during the night hours. The new promotional offer serves the 4G handset users and can be opted before March 31. Customers who choose to buy this plan before the expiry period can avail the same offer for the next 11 months and get free data offers.
The company has also revamped its Rs 145 plan that now provides unlimited local and national Airtel to Airtel calls and 2GB of mobile data with a validity of 28 days.
Vodafone and Idea Cellular on the other hand have also come up with new offers to take on Reliance Jio’s disruptive plans by offering daily data and unlimited voice calls for prepaid subscribers. Vodafone is offering its users 28GB of data per month with a limit of 1GB per day for a price of Rs 342. According to a spokesperson, the offers are valid only till March 15.
Besides, Idea Cellular is offering unlimited voice calls and 500MB of data per day for 28 days at a price of Rs 348. This offer only serves only to the non-data users with 4G handsets, a company spokesperson said.
Reliance announced its mobile data plan that is likely the most economical mobile data plan any telecom service provider has ever offered. The new plan will cost its users a mere amount of Rs 499 and it comes with 56GB of 4G data, free incoming and outgoing calls, free messages and unlimited data at lowered speed. Additionally, there will be no national roaming charges applied. The new Jio plan will cost less than Rs 10 per GB, but the plan is not FUP free.
