Ball-tampering row: Australia coach Darren Lehmann to address media today

On Tuesday, CA's CEO James Sutherland announced that Lehmann would continue as the team's head coach.

Johannesburg: Australia head coach Darren Lehmann is expected to break his silence on the ongoing ball-tampering scandal. According to a report in Cricket Australia’s (CA) official website cricket.com.au, the former Aussie cricketer will address the media at the Wanderers here on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, CA’s CEO James Sutherland announced that Lehmann would continue as the team’s head coach, whereas the trio of Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft would be sent back to Australia.

The cricket board’s chief also added that only the trio were involved in the scandal, and nobody else from the current team was involved.

As a result, this meant that the trio would miss the fourth and final Test against South Africa, starting on Friday.

On Saturday, a video of Cameron Bancroft rubbing the ball with a yellow tape during the third Test against South Africa had gone viral. Bancroft, along with Smith, later confessed that they actually tried to tamper the ball.

In latest development, David Warner has stepped down as the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), giving a huge blow for the Hyderabad franchise ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

This comes after his Aussie teammate Steve Smith quit as Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper on Monday.

Meanwhile, the sanctions for the troubled trio will be announced by Sutherland later on Wednesday.
