How Delhi Daredevils welcomed Mohammed Shami as BCCI cleared him of fixing charges

The 11th edition of the Indian Premier League will kick off on April 7.

Kolkata: Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami on Thursday got a huge sigh of relief when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided him with a B Grade central contract, thereby clearing him of all match-fixing charges.

Soon after this, the Indian Premier League (IPL) side Delhi Daredevils (DD) welcomed the board’s verdict through Twitter.

The franchise tweeted: We're glad to hear the verdict! @MdShami11 has been cleared to play by the @BCCI.

Shami was retained for Rs 3 crore by the Gautam Gambhir-led team during the IPL auctions. Following this, the Delhi franchise’s CEO Hemant Dua also welcomed back the 27-year-old pacer to the team.

Speaking to Sportstar, he said, ““With the ACU clearing Shami, we are all set to have him back in the team.”

On March 7, Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan had claimed that the cricketer allegedly had extra-marital affairs, putting his cricketing future in doubt. Two days later, an FIR was filed against the cricketer in charges of attempt to rape, murder and domestic violence.

Shami last represented India in a Test match against South Africa in January.
