Kolkata police unhappy even as BCCI share Mohammed Shami's Dubai stay details?

BCCI's response came after a letter was sent to the Board by the Kolkata Police seeking Shami's schedule last month.

Kolkata: It looks like the dust of the ugly spat between Mohammed Shami and his wife Hasin Jahan will not settle down anytime soon. The story seems to be having twist and turns each passing day.

From Shami being alleged of having extra marital affair with Pakistani woman Alishba, match fixing and domestic violence to Hasin Jahan approaching West Bengal Chief minister Mamta Banerjee for help, there is shortage of drama in the ongoing saga.

On Monday, Alishba came out and spoke about the whole controversy. During her conversation with ABP Ananda, she revealed that she is a follower of Mohammed Shami on Instagram and that is how both of them became friends. She also said that “I am just one of his lakhs of fans”.

Earlier on Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed to Kolkata Police that Shami stayed in a hotel in Dubai on February 17 and 18 on Indian cricket team's journey back to India from South Africa.

BCCI's response came after a letter was sent to the Board by the Kolkata Police seeking Shami's schedule last month. The police sought the details to check if he had gone to Dubai as claimed by his wife Hasin Jahan.

Inspite of letter being sent by BCCI, it is learnt that the Kolkata Police is unhappy with the response. A police official, who did not want his name to be disclosed said,” We asked the BCCI to send the route map of all the players who took part in the South Africa tour. Not only Shami but few other players as well came back to India separately, but the BCCI has only sent us Shami’s route map, which is pretty suspicious. And that’s why we have sent another letter to the BCCI and asked for the whole team’s route map.”

While Shami has been denying all the allegations, a FIR is lodged against him and his four family members in Kolkata's Jadavpur police station under several Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections, including section 498A, which amounts to cruelty to a woman by her husband or his relatives.

The other charges recorded against Shami are under Section 307 - attempt to murder, Section 323 - punishment for voluntarily causing hurt, Section 376 - rape, Section 506 - criminal intimidation, Section 328 and Section 34.
