On his way, to a match-turning fifty, Dhoni also became only the second Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar to score 4,000 plus ODI runs on home soil. The Little Master has 6976 ODI runs at home while Rahul Dravid has 3406 ODI runs at home.

The wicketkeeper-batsman, who scored only six runs in the first ODI in Pune, took his time to settle in but as soon as he did that, he was at his best – running quick singles, chipping in with a couple of big hits and keeping England fielders on their toes.

Dhoni, who was playing his 110th ODI in India, has thus far scored 5125 runs in 175 ODIs away from home.
