Poll survey favours YSRC victory in AP

VIJAYAWADA: YSR Congress is hoping for a consecutive clean sweep in the forthcoming elections after the survey by a national media house indicated positive results for the ruling party.

The Mood of Nation survey reported a steep increase in people's support for YSRC, from 50 percent to 57 percent. It gave thumbs down to BJP’s chance of bringing about a change in government in AP. The survey gave no chances at all to Jana Sena.

The opinion poll forecast that of total 25 Lok Sabha seats in AP, YSRC would win 18 seats and Telugu Desam seven.

In the recent past, another survey by a noted psephology organisation revealed similar results. It gave 19–20 MP seats to YSRC and five to seven seats to TD. In assembly, it forecast that the ruling party will go on to bag 120–130 of total 175 seats.

To turn people into favour of YSRC, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked each of his party MLA to mingle with people through the Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam mass contact programme and resolve issues of dissatisfied people. Sources say reactions from people in 20 constituencies reveal that they are unhappy with their MLAs. These legislators have been told that if they do not improve their prospects, tickets could as well be denied to them.

Sources further disclosed that YSRC is thinking of roping strong leaders of opposition parties into the ruling party to make a clean sweep during the 2024 assembly elections.

Political analysts say majority of legislators won 2019 elections due to charisma of Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is fifth in a survey of best CMs in India. YSRC MLAs P. Vasubabu and M. Vishnu assert that going by the latest survey, YSRC will make a clean sweep if the elections are conducted now.

The legislators assert that all sections of people are happy with CM Jagan’s governance and want him back in power in 2024 general elections.
