Agenda for southern council meet discussed at CM Jagan\'s meeting

Delegation from AP led by finance minister Buggana Rajendranath will represent the state

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will not be attending the southern zonal council meet in Thiruvananthapuram on Sept 3. Instead, a delegation from AP led by finance minister Buggana Rajendranath will represent AP.

The chief minister stated this on Monday while holding a preparatory meeting with his ministers and officials to decide on the issues to be raised at the zonal council meet. Jagan would be attending the death anniversary of his father and late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy during this time.

The CM said that even after the lapse of eight years since the bifurcation, several issues remained pending. These matters must be raised at the zonal meet. There, he said, was a need to set up a system to identify and resolve the issues and ensure their implementation, he stressed.

The CM noted that the bifurcation of the state caused huge financial loss to AP and it even lost Hyderabad. With the delay in resolving the issues of bifurcation, the state was in serious trouble. This must be raised at the council meet.

He said the issue of getting adequate funds for the Polavaram irrigation project must be in the agenda for the meeting in Thiruvananthapuram. A total of 19 issues from AP were kept in the agenda for the meeting, the CM was told by officials.

Power minister Peddireddy Ramachandra, minister for finance Bugganna Rajendranath, chief secretary Sameer Sarma and some other senior officials were present.
