AIADMK merger possible before Oct 17, working towards it: Dhinakaran
Chennai: AIADMK (Amma) leader TTV Dhinakaran on Friday assured that the party is working towards the merger faction, adding it could even take place before October 17.
"We are working towards the merger of the factions, very soon you will hear a good news. It could be even before October 17," Dhinakaran told media in Chennai.
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) was divided into two factions following the death of J Jayalalithaa in December last year. While former chief minister O Panneerselvam leads the AIADMK Puratchi Thalaivi Amma (PTA), ruling AIADMK (Amma) is led by Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami.
Talking to mediapersons on Friday, Dhinakaran said that he will go to the AIADMK office whenever he pleases as nobody can stop him from doing so.
"AIADMK party office is my office and nobody can stop me from going there," Dhinakaran added.
Dhinakaran was last released on bail after being in Tihar jail for a month in the Election Commission bribery case.
Dhinakaran, after meeting AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala in Bengaluru jail, on Thursday said that Sasikala had asked him to 'wait and watch' for two months before taking any steps to unite the faction-ridden party.
Dhinakaran met Sasikala at Parappana Agrahara central prison in Bengaluru, and had said that he enquired about her health and discussed party affairs with her.
