Defence and Home Ministers join PM in reviewing security; India rejects Trump’s claim of brokering peace with Pakistan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is chairing a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security on Wednesday, the first since the pause in hostilities between India and Pakistan.He is joined by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah in the meeting that is assessing the latest security situation.

The prime minister will also chair the meeting of the Union Cabinet after the Cabinet Committee on Security meet. US President Donald Trump's claim of mediation between India and Pakistan in bringing about a halt in hostilities, has been rejected by India. Despite India's rebuttal, Trump again claimed that his government "brokered a historic ceasefire" between the two countries.

    Armed forces downed 'surveillance drone' in Punjab's Jalandhar, says official

    rmed forces neutralised a suspected "surveillance drone" in Punjab's Jalandhar, a senior district official said in a late-night message on Monday.Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal said, "I have been informed that one surveillance drone was brought down by the armed forces around 9:20 pm near Mand village. An expert team is looking for the debris."

    In a message at 10:45 pm, he advised people against going near any debris and to immediately inform the nearest police station.

    It has also been informed that there was no drone activity since 10 pm, Aggarwal said.

    Security forces are engaging suspected drones observed along the International Border in Samba district of Jammu region on Monday, an Army official said.He, however, said there is no need to be alarmed.

    "A small number of suspected drones have been observed near Samba in J&K. They are being engaged," he said.
