Defence and Home Ministers join PM in reviewing security; India rejects Trump’s claim of brokering peace with Pakistan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is chairing a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security on Wednesday, the first since the pause in hostilities between India and Pakistan.He is joined by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah in the meeting that is assessing the latest security situation.

The prime minister will also chair the meeting of the Union Cabinet after the Cabinet Committee on Security meet. US President Donald Trump's claim of mediation between India and Pakistan in bringing about a halt in hostilities, has been rejected by India. Despite India's rebuttal, Trump again claimed that his government "brokered a historic ceasefire" between the two countries.

    Suspicious object resembling missile parts found near Chintpurni in Himachal

    Amid the military conflict between India and Pakistan, a suspicious metal object resembling parts of a missile was found at Behad village near the Chintpurni temple in Una district, officials said on Saturday.

    Two other suspicious objects resembling remains of a drone and a missile were also found at two places in the Indora area of Nurpur in Kangra district, they said.

    The film, titled "Operation Sindoor", was announced on Friday night by director Uttam Maheshwari on social media. The project will be produced by Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films and The Content Engineer.

    SC to hear plea challenging blocking of YouTube channel '4PM' on May 13

    The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a plea seeking quashing of an order blocking YouTube channel '4PM' on May 13.

    The apex court on May 5 sought responses from the Centre and others on the plea filed by Sanjay Sharma, the editor of digital news platform '4PM', which has a subscriber base of 73 lakh.

    The plea claimed that the blocking was effected by the intermediary pursuant to an undisclosed direction allegedly issued by the Centre citing "vague" grounds of "national security" and "public order".

    Pak troops violate ceasefire along LoC in J-K's Uri, Gurez sectors

    Pakistani troops violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri and Gurez sectors of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, officials said.They said the Pakistani troops targeted Charunda and Hatlanga areas of Uri sector in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.

    They also violated ceasefire in Bagtore area of Gurez sector in north Kashmir's Bandipora district, the officials said.

    The leaders of four European countries arrived in Kyiv Saturday in a joint show of support as calls intensify for Russia to agree to a monthlong cease-fire in the war.

    The leaders of France, Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom arrived together at the train station in Kyiv, where they are expected to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

    J&K LG reviews security situation in border areas

    Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday reviewed the security situation in the border districts that have been badly hit by the cross-border shelling of Pakistani troops.

    The US has said both India and Pakistan need to identify methods to de-escalate and re-establish direct communication to avoid miscalculation, proposing "support" in facilitating "productive discussions" to avert future disputes.

    Fresh blasts in Srinagar hours after explosions shook city on Saturday morning

    Srinagar was rocked by massive blasts hours after similar explosions shook Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital in the early hours of Saturday, officials said.Two massive explosions were heard near the Srinagar airport around 11.45, they said.

    The blasts caused panic among the people as electricity was snapped in the city and other parts of the valley, they said, adding that sirens were also heard in some areas.

    India's approach has always been measured and responsible and remains so, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Saturday after talking to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

    The phone conversation between Jaishankar and Rubio came as Indian and Pakistani militaries targeted each other's installations, escalating the already serious confrontations.
