It took Shape of You singer Ed Sheeran mere 48 mins to sell his Mumbai tour tickets!
Mumbai: Talk about star power! Ed Sheeran is an international pop star who has a mammoth fan base in India. The ‘Shape of You’ singer, whose concert is scheduled to take place in Mumbai’s Jio Gardens in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) on November 19, is going to a huge crowd for sure.
In an official statement released by the concert’s official ticketing partner 'Book My Show', the online portal has claimed that the first round of tickets were sold out in 48 minutes flat.
Unlike Justin Bieber’s concert on May 10 in Mumbai, Sheeran’s concert tickets are a lot cheaper. While the Silver tickets were sold for 4, 750, Gold and Diamond went for 8, 000 and 12, 000 respectively. When Bieber came to India for the first time, the ticket prices were as high as 76, 000.
In fact, Diamond tickets got over first, followed by Gold and then Silver.
Talking about this astonishing sale, Kunal Khambati, Head of Live Events and IP for Book My Show, reportedly said, “We are elated and overwhelmed by the response received towards the online ticket sales for Ed Sheeran Live in Mumbai concert. Just as we had anticipated, we witnessed enormous demand and traffic on our platforms from thousands of Ed Sheeran fans, not just residing in India but outside as well. Our virtual queue management system efficiently managed the requests, allowing thousands of lucky BookMyShow users to get their tickets, on a first come first served basis, to one of the most highly anticipated events this year.”
This concert is an extension of Ed’s Divide tour, the album by the same name that he released at the beginning of the year. Mumbai is a part of the Asian leg of his world tour.
Sheeran is expected to mesmerize us with his top soundtracks like ‘Shape of You’, ‘Perfect’, ‘Castle on the Hill’ and ‘Happier’, among others.
