It’s a no-brainer that every smartphone manufacturer wants to beat Apple’s iPhone by falling into two distinct clubs —  those who pack in more features and those who simply copy the best of the iPhone. Huawei wants to belong to the first group with their upcoming Mate 10, the flagship offering for the company.

The company has released an official teaser for the Mate 10 on the Internet and going by the looks of it, they seem to attack Apple’s latest iPhone X. The teaser video shows that the Mate will have AI built into the smartphone, which is a first for any smartphone. However, they say that the phone will think like a human and will be there with things that you need the most at a specific time. It will be a ‘real AI phone’ if we are to believe Huawei.

Now, it is not yet known whether the Mate 10 will deliver what Huawei is claiming on the teaser. It is expected that the smartphone will be built on the Kirin 970 SoC, which has a Neural Processing Unit built into the processor. This means that the AI engine will reside in the phone and not on some server sitting thousands of kilometres away from the user, connected to the Internet.

We hope that the Huawei’s Mate 10 stands true to Huawei’s promise of the being a true AI phone. However, it will be interesting to see whether the AI limit itself to simple tasks or go beyond what is needed at this moment in the world of technology. Let’s hope that this won’t initiate the judgement day for the world of computers (just kidding).
