Apple has officially launched the new "MacBook Air with M5 chipset," ahead of its March 4 special experience event. The updated laptop promises significant performance gains over the M4 model, especially for AI-intensive tasks.
The "M5 MacBook Air" features a 10-core CPU and a next-generation GPU, with each GPU core equipped with a Neural Accelerator. Apple claims the device is up to "4 times faster than the M4" and "9.5 times faster than the M1" MacBook Air for AI operations.
Storage has also been upgraded, with the base model offering "512GB SSD", expandable up to 4TB, and speeds up to "2 times faster than its predecessor." The device includes Apple's N1 wireless chip and a "12-megapixel Center Stage camera" for clearer video calls.
The MacBook Air comes in "13.6-inch and 15.3-inch Liquid Retina displays", offering up to 500 nits of brightness. However, the "overall design remains unchanged."
In India, the "M5 MacBook Air is priced" at Rs 1,19,900 for the 13.6-inch model and Rs 1,44,900 for the 15.3-inch variant. Pre-orders begin on "March 4." This launch follows Apple’s earlier announcements of the "iPhone 17e" and "M4 iPad Air," with rumors hinting at an upcoming "affordable MacBook."
