The tech giant previewed these features at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 in June.
Apple has rolled out its major software update, iOS 27, for iPhones in India. The update introduces new Siri AI capabilities, along with other Apple Intelligence features.
Apple has also released iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27 and other software updates alongside iOS 27.
The tech giant previewed these features at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 in June. The updates became available on September 14.
Here are the new features:
Siri AI
Apple’s new Siri AI is more intelligent and personalised unlike the current which can do basic actions like setting a timer and checking the weather. The new Siri AI can answer the query of the user much like ChatGPT.
Siri AI comes with a dedicated app and a new Dynamic Island-based interface in iOS 27. Ssers can access Siri by swiping down on the Dynamic Island or press and hold the side button.
The new Siri can understand what is displayed on a user’s screen and use that context to provide relevant responses. When users ask questions, Siri presents information in text cards, drawing answers from web sources, messages, documents, and other content available on the device.
Siri AI is also integrated into the Camera app on iOS 27 through a dedicated mode. Users can point their iPhone camera at a receipt to split a bill instantly or scan a poster to automatically create multiple calendar events based on the information displayed.
Apple introduced “Write with Siri,” a feature designed to help users compose emails and messages. Beyond writing assistance, Siri AI can handle a variety of tasks, including drafting messages, answering questions, brainstorming sessions, and helping users create detailed plans.
Liquid Glass
Apple has refined the Liquid Glass interface in iOS 27. Apple said app icons will also appear sharper and more defined with the iOS 27. It has also introduced a slider for Liquid Glass, allowing users to adjust transparency levels.
Performance
Apple said that apps will launch up to 30% faster, new photos load in your Photos library up to 70% faster, while AirDrop transfers will be up to 80% faster. Apple said it has optimized the CPU scheduler‌ for more efficient performance-intensive tasks.
The tech giant has also said that the camera will launch faster in Low Power Mode, faster keyboard loading and also improved bluetooth.
Apple has rebuilt the search infrastructure with a new search index designed to enhance Spotlight and improve search functionality throughout the operating system.
iPhone Handoff
Apple has also introduced the iPhone Handoff feature in iOS 27 that lets users to switch to two iPhones with same number on each device.
Other features
The Mail app is receiving a significant enhancement. A new ranking system aims to make it easier for users to find the emails they are actually looking for by delivering more relevant search results.
Apple also announced several app and hardware specific improvements. In Photos, iCloud Shared Albums will now support sharing with Android and Windows users, making collaboration across platforms easier.
The Health app’s cycle-tracking feature is becoming more advanced, offering users deeper insights and improved tracking capabilities.
For AirPods users, Apple is introducing a new Custom EQ feature that allows listeners to adjust audio output according to their personal preferences. Users will be able to fine-tune the balance of different sound frequencies, including bass, mids, and treble, creating a more personalized listening experience.
Apple Maps is gaining an upgraded Flyover experience, featuring richer aerial imagery and more detailed visualizations of cities and landmarks.
Users can reframe a photo after it’s been taken with Spatial Reframing. They can expand their shots with the Extend tool and remove even larger objects with the enhanced Clean Up tool.
With Image Playground users can create in just any style, including photorealistic. They can modify and transform their images with a description.
Apple has introduced new feature to Safari where tabs can be automatically grouped into topics and notify users “monitors pages for changes — for example, a price change or restock — and alerts you when it’s time to act.”
Messages and Mail will offer suggestions to help users take quick actions based on context from their conversation — add a calendar event or search for a photo with a tap.
Apple Intelligence and Siri AI in iOS 27 will be available on devices from the iPhone 15 Pro to the newly launched iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo. The iPhone 15 and older models will not receive the new Apple Intelligence and Siri AI features.
