Why Vijay’s Wife Sangeeta Was Not Present at the Swearing-In

Tongues are wagging about Vijay’s wife, Sangeeta Sornalingam’s, absence during her husband’s big moment. However, multiple sources in Chennai confirm that the lady was not in the city on Sunday when Vijay was sworn in as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

An actress, who is close to both Vijay and his wife, says, “Sangeeta has moved to London where her father, a Sri Lankan Tamil, is settled and thriving for decades. Sangeeta now looks after the family business in London, worth approximately Rs 450 crore. So the question of Sangeeta’s presence (at the swearing-in) didn’t arise.”

Sangeeta met Vijay as a fan from London. She would write him fan letters, and expressed a wish to meet him. She eventually flew down from London to meet him. Their mutual fondness grew into love and they were married in 1999. Sadly now, the couple is estranged.
