Vivek Gives Away His Rs 6-Cr ‘Ramayana’ Fee

Vivek Oberoi has charged zero fee for his role as Vibhishan in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana.

Instead of taking his Rs 6-crore fee, the actor asked producer Namit Malhotra to donate the entire amount towards the treatment of children battling cancer. Marking his 50th birthday, Oberoi has taken responsibility for the treatment costs of 50 children. He said he did not want “a single rupee” from the multi-part epic, describing his work on the film as seva rather than a job.

Known for his quiet philanthropy, Vivek said, “I firmly believe talking about one’s charity diminishes the deed and reduces its impact. If we are financially privileged, it is for a reason — and that reason is to help those less privileged than us.”
