Varun Tej to Work With Sister Niharika
The actor, currently enjoying the success of his last film, says his sister has an eye for talent and storytelling
Varun Tej may be basking in the success of his Korean Kanakaraju after a series of box-office setbacks, but he’s not one to sit on his laurels – he’s already working on another project, titled Bhari, collaborating with none other than his sister Niharika.
The actor opens up about what it’s like to have her as his producer.
“I’m really excited to collaborate with Niharika,” Varun said. “Keeping aside the fact that she’s my sister, she’s one of the most passionate young producers out there. Her eye for talent and her passion for telling good stories is something that really excites me. We’ve always discussed films and bounced around ideas, much before we decided to work together. So I know we’re very much on the same page when it comes to filmmaking. I’m really glad that we’re finally collaborating, and that it’s happening with Bhari.”
Asked to confirm reports that he is charging his sister his market price, Varun said, “From the early stages of my career, I’ve always based my remuneration on the kind of film I’m doing and the scale of the project. I understand the economics of filmmaking, and for me, the viability of a project has always been more important than taking home a big pay cheque. I’d rather make sure enough money is being spent on making a quality film. The same applies when I’m working with Niharika. Of course, I’m going to charge her.”
He, however, added a caveat – “But ultimately, it depends on the market conditions, the viability of the project and what budget the script actually demands.”
