Shruti Haasan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s much-anticipated Hollywood debut Arrangements of Love has undergone a major casting change, with Shruti Haasan now stepping into the role originally won by Samantha.

Samantha was initially cast as the lead in the Indo-British adaptation of Timeri N. Murari’s bestselling 2004 novel. She had won the audition to play a strong-minded, 27-year-old bisexual Tamil woman who runs her own detective agency in Chennai. However, during Samantha’s subsequent hiatus from acting, the casting underwent a major change. The film is now set to be headlined by Shruti Haasan alongside actor Viveik Kalra.

Directed by BAFTA-winning Welsh filmmaker Philip John, known for Downton Abbey, the film is based on Murari’s novel and co-written by British-Sri Lankan actor Nimmi Harasgama.

The story follows a Welsh-Indian man who travels to India in search of his estranged father. Along the way, he hires a progressive, independent Tamil detective to help him track down his father. That pivotal role now belongs to Shruti Haasan.
