Priyanka Slams Brands For Snubbing Indian Heritage
At a Bvlgari event, the actress called out international fashion houses for borrowing from Indian traditions without acknowledgement
Desi girl Priyanka Chopra Jonas made a quick stop in Mumbai for a Bvlgari event. Representing the luxury brand globally, the actor said that while Indian culture and aesthetics often inspire international fashion, she values her association with a house that acknowledges India’s heritage — as reflected in Bvlgari’s latest serpentine necklace.
Dressed in an elegant lace outfit and accessorised with the brand’s pieces, she remarked, “There are many international brands that draw from our culture and heritage but fail to give credit — which is wrong.”
Her comments came in the backdrop of Prada being called out for not crediting Indian artisans for design inspirations like the Kohlapuri and Punjabi jutti.
