Mamitha Baiju.

Young sensation Mamitha Baiju, who has gained popularity among Telugu audiences with the dubbed film Dude, is steadily making inroads into Tollywood. After making her presence felt with Viswanath and Sons, the Malayalam actress is reportedly in talks for Jai Hanuman, further strengthening her prospects in Telugu cinema.

“Mamitha is a new sensation who has struck a chord with Gen Z audiences. I think she will do more Telugu films,” says producer Madhura Sreedhar. “Her bubbly personality and talent have earned her fans across industries,” he adds.

He believes actresses making their presence felt in multiple languages have an advantage over those focusing on a single industry. “Those days are gone,” he says, adding, “An actress who is doing well in Tamil and Malayalam would be a big advantage for Telugu films, as her popularity can give a Telugu film better mileage. The days of reaching the top in one language and then moving to other languages are dated. Doing multilingual films simultaneously is the current trend,” he points out.

Hailing from the Malayalam film industry, Mamitha is riding high on the reported success of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit and is emerging as a prominent name among her contemporaries, including Anupama Parameswaran, Malavika Mohanan and Anu Emmanuel.
