Pawan Kalyan Bags New Honour in Martial Arts
The actor-politician receives the prestigious Fifth Dan, becomes first Telugu inducted into Takeda Shingen Clan
Pawan Kalyan has achieved a rare and special honour in the field of martial arts. He has officially been inducted into Kenjutsu, an ancient Japanese sword fighting art, earning international recognition for his dedication and discipline. The actor and the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has long pursued martial arts alongside his film and political career. His training began in Chennai, focusing on karate and other fighting forms, and extended to studying Japanese samurai traditions and martial arts philosophy.
This lifelong commitment has now been globally acknowledged. Pawan was awarded the Fifth Dan by the Japanese organisation Sogo Budo Kanri Kai and became the first Telugu person inducted into the Takeda Shingen Clan under Soke Muramatsu Sensei—an honour rarely bestowed outside Japan. He also received the title “Tiger of Martial Arts” from the Golden Dragons organisation.
