Kangana Ranaut, who plays a nurse tackling the 26/11 crisis in her new film, Bharat Bhagya Vidhata, says the nursing profession is the most underestimated. Speaking about the challenges faced by nurses, Kangana said they are often underpaid, overworked and underappreciated despite handling some of the most demanding responsibilities in hospitals. Kangana also described the nursing profession as “the most sexualised.”
Kangana’s film salutes the unseen caregivers of 26/11. “While medical training can be taught, bravery cannot,” she says. The nurses and ward boys, she explains, “did not see themselves as heroes; they believed that their duty was bigger than their fear. That belief saved lives.”
