Prominent Chinese daily ‘The Global Times’ has criticised Apoorva Lakhia’s Battle of Galwan which recreates the 2020 China-India conflict, claiming that it was "distorting facts."

The film tells the story of how approximately 60 soldiers of the Indian Army's 16 Bihar Regiment, led by Colonel B. Santosh Babu, battled China’s People's Liberation Army cadres in the Galwan Valley, Ladakh.

Salman shared the teaser of the movie on December 27th, his 60th birthday, prompting the Chinese media outlet to lash out.

While director Apoorva Lakhia is not allowed to speak on the subject, a source very close to the project says, “The Indian government has now pitched in for us, saying that while there may not be freedom of expression in China, it is certainly there in our country, and Battle Of Galwan will have its say.”

The source adds, “it is all very positive for us. For once, China is helping an Indian cause. The more they protest, the more Indian audiences want to see what is in Battle Of Galwan.”

Significantly, Salman personally met the Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh on at least three occasions and got all the necessary clearances to make the film.
