Alia Bhatt Turns Producer To Introduce Newcomers

Don’t Be Shy is a comedy-romance produced by Alia Bhatt and sister Shaheen Bhatt under Eternal Sunshine Productions. Directed by debutant Sreeti Mukerji, the Gen Z coming-of-age story follows Shyamili “Shy” Das (Aarushi Bajaj), a controlling 20-year-old whose carefully planned life unravels after her boyfriend dumps her, leading to an unexpected friendship with his new girlfriend.

Notably, Alia Bhatt doesn’t star in the film. Instead, she takes on the producer’s role, launching newcomers Aarushi Bajaj, Ansh Duggal, Bianca Arora and Piyush Khati, alongside supporting turns by Neha Dhupia, Anurag Basu and Kunaal Roy Kapur.

The celebrity premiere of Don’t Be Shy was held in Mumbai on Thursday. Alia Bhatt grabbed attention in a shimmering silver sequined top and matching Ashish Gupta skirt from his Fall 2026 Ready-to-Wear collection, paired with crystal pumps.

The screening turned into a star-studded family affair, with Alia joined by husband Ranbir Kapoor, mother-in-law Neetu Kapoor, sister Shaheen Bhatt and parents Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan. Several film and digital personalities also attended to support the new release.

Speaking on Don’t Be Shy Alia Bhatt says, “When director Sreeti Mukerji came to us with an idea to make a movie like this, we said, ‘Let’s do it together,’. It’s got the classic feeling of a holiday film, the classic feeling of a summer film, like it’s got a lot of those classic tones, but it’s in a new voice. It’s got a new energy to it, and that's Sreeti’s, the director’s energy and her new sort of take on it, and I feel that there’s something there which the audience has not seen before.”
