Team India ODI captain Rohit Sharma undertook a fitness test ahead of the next month's Australia tour at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) Ground in Bengaluru Saturday and his results stunned everyone.
Along with the veteran, India's newly appointed white-ball skipper Shubman Gill, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and Shardul Thakur also took the test on August 30.
Alot of people including former players and experts have raised concern over Rohit Sharma's physical appearance and fitness for sometime now. Former India player Manoj Tiwary went a step ahead and claimed that the reportedly introduced Bronco drill is an attempt to keep players like Rohit Sharma out of the team.
However, the 38-year-old had silenced all the doubters, a RevSports Global report said that Rohit Sharma's physical appearance and his performance in the test impressed everyone at the CoE.
All players, who took the test on August 30 and 31 have cleared it, it further added. Few social media reports claimed that Rohit had an impressive score of 19.4 in the Yo-Yo test and a little over 5 minutes to finish the Bronco drill.
The dashing opener looked visibly leaner and fitter in the pictures that are going viral across social media platforms. Donnings an all black outfit Rohit looked much leaner than his last appearance in the IPL 2025.
He was training under Abhishek Nayar's guidance for the ODIs against Australia scheduled to begin from October 19. However, it is still unclear whether the modern-day GOAT would play for India A during the practice matches.
Rohit announced retirement from the traditional format, over a year after hanging up his boots from the shorter format of the game. However, he continues to don the Indian cap in the One-dayers.
Rohit was last seen in action on June 1, for Mumbai Indians in an IPL match.
