Mumbai: Promising pacer Auqib Nabi on Saturday left for the UK to play three matches for Surrey in the County Championship Division One with an eye on India's tour of New Zealand in October.
The Jammu and Kashmir pacer was recently drafted into the Indian squad as a replacement for the injured Jasprit Bumrah in the two-Test series in Sri Lanka but did not get a chance to make his debut.
"Nabi has left for the UK from Dubai and will look to play their match against Yorkshire on Wednesday," a source told PTI.
The leading wicket-taker in last season's Ranji Trophy which Jammu and Kashmir won for the first time, Nabi is also expected to return in time for India's four-day unofficial Tests against Australia A in Puducherry. The series starts on September 22.
It was reported earlier that Surrey were in search of a swing bowler and there were talks taking place to get Nabi playing a few matches for the club. Following the contest against Yorkshire from September 2-5, Surrey are set to take on Sussex from September 8-11, and Glamorgan from September 15-18.
