ADILABAD: BRS leaders on Friday extended support to Village Organisation Assistants (VOAs) of self-help groups who are on agitation in Adilabad, demanding a salary of ₹20,000 and job security.

Boath MLA Anil Jadhav and former minister Jogu Ramanna visited the relay hunger strike camp in front of the Collectorate, where the protest entered its 11th day.

Addressing the gathering, the leaders said they would press panchayat raj minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka to consider the demands. They recalled that Seethakka had earlier sought a salary hike to ₹26,000 and job security for VOAs when the BRS was in power.

They also said the issue would be raised in the next Assembly session. The leaders stated that the previous BRS government had increased VOA salaries from ₹3,000 to ₹5,000.

VOAs association president Thazoddin, senior BRS leader Vijjagiri Narayana and others were present.
